Oracle Enterprise Linux as supported per the MTR page Note 705335.1 Is there more to be downloaded to properly install OAS?
Cause
Not Applicable
Solution
Oracle Enterprise Linux is supported. But Oracle Universal installer does not contain the correct platform information.
To workaround this issue there is document posted on Oracle Metalink <<Doc 415977.1>>
The following steps are the highlight in the document. Please review entire document for detailed information.
Installing on Oracle Enterprise Linux 4
If you run the installer from CD or image, you will receive an error message about a non-support operating system. Follow the metalink DOC ID 415977.1 to override the prerequisite checks.
Here is the solution:
Step 1
* Copy the CD image to a temporary directory
* Change directory to "install" and make a backup copy of "oraparam.ini"
* Open the oraparam.ini file and add the Oracle Enterprise Linux operating system as a valid system.
Add redhat-Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux AS release 4 before SuSE-9
[Certified Versions]
Linux=redhat-Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 3,redhat-Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4,redhat-Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3,redhat-Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4,redhat-Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux AS release 4,SuSE-9
Add the following sectin before the [Linux-SuSE-9-optional]
[Linux-redhat-Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux AS release 4-optional]
TEMP_SPACE=400
SWAP_SPACE=512
MIN_DISPLAY_COLORS=256
CPU=300
Step 2
Edit the <image>/stage/prereq/refhost.xml file to include Enterprise Linux
Step 3
Edit the <image>/stage/prereq/refhost_Core.xml file to include Enterprise Linux
Step 4
Save the changes, and rerun the installer
