Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.5 Now Available

Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.5 Now Available

Oracle  has announced that Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.5 is now generally available

Instructions for downloading and applying this release update pack (RUP) for the EBS 12.2 codeline can be found here:
 As a consolidated suite-wide patchset, this RUP includes new features, statutory and regulatory updates, and enhancements for stability, performance, and security.

Release 12.2.5 is cumulative. That means that as well as providing new updates for this release, it also includes updates that were originally made available as one-off patches for earlier 12.2 releases.
For a complete list of new features, refer to:

step by step Deploying JRE (Native Plug-in) for Windows Clients in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2

Deploying JRE (Native Plug-in) for Windows Clients in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (Doc ID 393931.1)

Step 1. Source the Environment

Source your environment as appropriate to your Oracle E-Business Suite release.
Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.x Users

Upgrading the JRE Plugin can be done outside of a patch cycle against the RUN file system.

On the Application tier as the file system owner source your RUN file system.

[applmgr@arjun ~]$ . $RUN_BASE/EBSapps/appl/APPSR122_arjun.env

Step 2. Download the Interoperability Patch and the JRE Plugin
Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.x Users

There are currently no interoperability patch requirements for Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 Users. Proceed to Step 1.2. Download the JRE Plugin.

Step 1.2. Download the JRE Plugin

Download the latest JRE 7 update from  http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

The latest JRE 6 versions are only available through a patch, see Document 1439822.1, titled 'All Java SE Downloads on MOS' for a list of patch numbers.

Step 1.3. Rename the JRE Plugin File

Rename the downloaded JRE Native Plugin file to j2se<version>.exe

For example:

jre-7u21-windows-i586.exe or jre-7u21-windows-x64.exe would be renamed j2se17021.exe
jre-6u45-windows-i586.exe or jre-6u45-windows-x64.exe would be renamed j2se16045.exe
jre-6u7-windows-i586.exe would be renamed j2se16007.exe

Step 1.4. Place the Renamed JRE Plugin on the Web Application Tier

Place the renamed JRE Plugin file onto the web application tier in the directory as appropriate to your Oracle E-Business Suite release.
Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.x Users

Move the j2se1700X.exe file to the web application tier and place it in the following directory in the RUN File System:
$[COMMON_TOP]/webapps/oacore/util/javaplugin

[COMMON_TOP] refers to the top level directory where the common utilities are installed. By default, this is the parent directory of $JAVA_TOP.

[applmgr@arjun javaplugin]$ cd $COMMON_TOP/webapps/oacore/util/javaplugin/
[applmgr@arjun javaplugin]$ ls -lrt j2*
-rw-r--r--. 1 applmgr applmgr 16897824 Aug 17  2011 j2se16027.exe
[applmgr@arjun javaplugin]$ cp -r /usr/tmp/jre-7u45-windows-i586.exe j2se17045
[applmgr@arjun javaplugin]$ ls -lrt j2*
-rw-r--r--. 1 applmgr applmgr 16897824 Aug 17  2011 j2se16027.exe
-rw-r--r--. 1 applmgr applmgr 29040552 Dec 10 16:08 j2se17045
[applmgr@arjun javaplugin]$

Step 3. Apply Prerequisite Patches (If Required)
Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.x Users

There are currently no prerequisite patch requirements for Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 Users. Proceed to Section 3: Upgrade and Configuration.

Step 4. Apply the Interoperability Patch
Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.x Users

There are currently no interoperability patch requirements for Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 Users. Proceed to Section 3: Upgrade and Configuration.

Section 3: Upgrade and Configuration
Step 5. Run the JRE Upgrade Script

Run the txkSetPlugin upgrade script following the instructions as applicable to your operating system.

[applmgr@arjun ~]$ /u01/ORAR122/fs2/EBSapps/appl/fnd/12.0.0/bin/txkSetPlugin.sh 17045

[applmgr@arjun scripts]$ adop phase=fs_clone

step by step to migrate Non Container Database (Non CDB) to Container Database (CDB, as PDB)

Moving a Non Container Database (Non CDB) to Container Database (CDB, as PDB)

In this post, I discuss moving a regular Non CDB Database to CDB architecture. DBMS_PDB.DESCRIBE metadata procedure is used for the same purpose. Following analogy applies to the post,

ORCL - Non CDB Database (Instance)

Step -1 Identify CDB or non CDB database

[oracle@r12c orcl]$ sqlplus "/as sysdba"

SQL*Plus: Release 12.1.0.2.0 Production on Thu Sep 10 18:49:34 2015

Copyright (c) 1982, 2014, Oracle.  All rights reserved.

Connected to:
Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition Release 12.1.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP, Advanced Analytics and Real Application Testing options

SQL> SELECT name, open_mode FROM   v$pdbs ORDER BY name;

no rows selected

SQL> select con_id, dbid, name from v$pdbs;

no rows selected

SQL> select cdb from v$database;

CDB
---
NO

Step -2 Creat CDB database

Below steps to create CDB Database (Instance)
$ ./runinstaller

Step -3

Open the Non CDB (ORCL) in READ-ONLY Mode to keep it transactionally consistent.

SQL> STARTUP OPEN READ ONLY;
ORACLE instance started.

Total System Global Area 1275068416 bytes
Fixed Size                  2923968 bytes
Variable Size             872415808 bytes
Database Buffers          385875968 bytes
Redo Buffers               13852672 bytes
Database mounted.
Database opened.

Step -4
Connect to the Non-CDB Database(ORCL) and execute DBMS_PDB.DESCRIBE procedure to generate an xml file that will help to build the Pluggable Database on the CDB Database(CDB)

SQL> BEGIN
  DBMS_PDB.DESCRIBE(
    pdb_descr_file => '/tmp/cdb.xml');
END;
/  2    3    4    5

PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

Step -5
Shutdown the Non CDB (ORCL) Database, and login to CDB Database (CDB) as SYS user

SQL> SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
Database closed.
Database dismounted.
ORACLE instance shut down.
SQL> exit
Disconnected from Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition Release 12.1.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP, Advanced Analytics and Real Application Testing options

Step -6
On CDB container database  Create the PDB Database by mapping the XML file that Is generated in step -4

[oracle@r12c datafile]$ export ORACLE_SID=cdb1
[oracle@r12c datafile]$ sqlplus "/as sysdba"
